  1. Are charcoal briquettes for my outdoor grill the same as activated charcoal?

    Not at all. Activated charcoal is for medicinal purposes and must conform to strict government standards for purity.

  2. What is the definition of adsorb, and how is it different from absorb?

    Adsorb is the action by which activated charcoal traps and holds on to molecules. Molecules are attracted to the surface of activated charcoal and then trapped in the pores on the surface. This is called surface retention – like a magnet. Absorb is taking in to the inside of a body, like a sponge. Your body absorbs food and drugs into the bloodstream.

  3. Will the CharcoCaps® adsorb the nutrients in the food I am eating?

  9. How do I use CharcoCaps®?

    Take 2 capsules with water, preferably before meals.  Repeat after two hours if necessary.  Do not exceed 16 capsules per day.

  10. Are CharcoCaps® gluten free?

    Yes, CharcoCaps® are gluten free.

  11. Do any products contain ingredients from animal sources?

    CharcoCaps® gelatin capsules are manufactured from animal source protein and are BSE free.

  12. What if excessive or malodorous gas persists?

    If excessive or malodorous gas persists, see a doctor. Certain bloating might not be gas, but a symptom of an underlying condition, such as irritable bowel syndrome (IBS), celiac disease, pancreatic insufficiency, or lactose intolerance. A gastroenterologist can make these determinations and, if necessary, prescribe a diet and/or medication. As with any product, if you are pregnant or nursing a baby, seek professional advice before using CharcoCaps®. Keep CharcoCaps® out of the reach of children.   14. Is it ok to take CharcoCaps® if I am taking other medication?

    Do not take CharcoCaps® Anti-Gas Formula with any other medicines, supplements or vitamins as it will reduce their effectiveness. It is important to wait at least 2 hours before or 2 hours after a dose of any other medicine including birth control pills. For time released medication or if you have any further concerns, we suggest you consult with your physician.

  15. Are there any side effects from taking activated charcoal?

    You may experience darkening of the stool.

  16. Can I take CharcoCaps® when I’m pregnant or nursing?

    Do not take this or any medication while pregnant or nursing without consulting your physician.

    Do not administer to children without consulting your physician first.

  18. Does CharcoCaps® cause constipation or diarrhea?

    There are no clinical studies to support these side effects. If you are having difficulty, stop taking the product and consult with your physician.
